SYDENHAM AMATEUR MUSICAL SOCIETY.

The first annual general meeting of this Society was held on Thursday in the Sydenham Borough schoolroom. The Mayor of Sydenham, Mr J. T, Brown, occupied tho chair. Tho Chairman said that he must compliment the society upon tho success achieved by it during the first year of its existence, a success which was mainly due to the exertions of tho honorary conductor, Mr J. H. Edmonds. Ha then called upon tho hon. secretary to read the report and balance sheet, which were adopted. Messrs Cowdrey, May, Penfold, and Edmonds briefly addressed the meeting, after which votes Of thanks were passed to the president (Mr J. T. Brown), the hon. pianist (Miss N. L. Bowler), hon. treasurer (Mr Hall), hon. sec. (Mr Penfold), hon. conductor (Mr Edmonds), hon. librarian (Mr Parsons), and the committee. The following officers of the society were then elected for the ensuing year, viz.:—President, Mr J. T. Brown ; vice presidents, Messrs W. Packer and J. Joyce; hon. pianist, Miss N. L. Bowler ; hon. conductor, Mr J. H. Edmonds; hon. treasurer, Mr W. G. Hall; hon. sec., Mr P. Panfold ; hon. librarian, Mr A. Johnston. Committee: Messrs Wallace, Cowdrey, Whitlaw, Robinson, Hadfield, Parsons, Edwards. Tho hon. sec. announced that the practice of the society would be held on Tuesday, in the schoolroom, sis usual.
