CHRISTCHURCH HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
At the conclusion of the special general meeting on Tuesday evening, a committee meeting was held. Present—Mr E. C. J. Stevens, president, in the chair, and Professor Bickerton, Messrs. R. H. Webb, S. Manning, J. Guntrip, D. Nairn, G. A. Reade, A. Carrick, 0. Marsh, J. Gray, H. Crooks, T. Allen, T. Turner, and E. Jones, hon. see. The enquiry into the charge of irregularity at the Spring show was resumed, and Mr W. J. Eisher attended and gave evidence corroborating the particulars stated in his letter of December 23rd ult. Mr Wm. Gregory also attended and made a further statement. On the withdrawal of Messrs Fisher, Nairn, and Gregory, the committee deliberated on the evidence before them, and unanimously resolved—" That an infringement of Rule IX. has taken place in reference to W. Gregory's exhibit in the open class, No. 54 in the schedule, at the Spring show, and that he be informed that the prize awarded to him for that exhibit will be withheld, and that any repetition of the irregularity on his part will be brought under the notice of a general meeting under Rule XIX."
