HEATHCOTE REGATTA.

A largely attended meeting was held at the Commercial Hotel last evening, at eight o'clock, to consider the advisability of holding a regatta on the Heathoote Estuary this season. Mr H. Thomson was voted to the chair, and remarked that the business of the meeting had been already expressed by the advertisement. If it was determined to hold a regatta on the Estuary this season, it would be necessary to fill up a subscription list for at least £IOO. Ha would leave it to some one to propose a resolution on the subject. The treasurer of the previous year, Mr J. O. Jones, reported a balance in hand of £5 3s. Their position was about the same as the previous year. The subscriptions for last year amounted to about £BO, the entry money being £lB. He concluded by moving—" That a regatta be held on the Estuary as usual this season." The motion was seconded by Mr J. W. Davis, and on being put to the meeting was carried unanimously. The following officers were then elected : Patron, Mr J. T. Fisher, M.H.8.; commodore, Mr J. L. Coster; treasurer, Mr J. O. Jones; secretary, Mr S. G. Kesteven ; comraittee, Messrs H. Thomson, W. Packard, R. Puflett, O. Rogers, E. Dransfield, J. W. Davis, J. S. Monck, T. Taylor, J. Day, L. M. Ollivier, J. R. Evans, T. A. Button, E. Pavitt, 0. Allen, F. D. Kesteven, E. Trischler, A. Pavitt, J. O. Jones, S. C. Kesteven, J. Davidson, A. D. Erazer, and W. A. Styohe. The Chairman hoped that all present would endeavor to collect subscriptions, and if the town was divided into districts and apportioned, the same people would not be asked more than once. This was desirable, as it was a great bore to be dunned twice. [Laughter.] Mr J. O. Jones proposed, and Mr E. D. Kesteven seconded, " That collecting books be issued to the committee, and that they report to a meeting, to be called this day fortnight." This was unanimously agreed to. On the motion of Mr J. O. Jones, a vote of thanks was enthusiastically accorded to the chairman, after which the meeting adjourned till January 27th.
