LYTTELTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The regular meeting of this Council was held on Monday night. Present —Tho Mayor (chairman), Ors. Maopherson, Macdonald, Reed, Qarforth, Webb, Grubb, Weybourne. Tho receipts since the previous meeting were £lls 4s 4d. A letter acknowledging receipt of the plan for the proposed siding at Officers’ Point from the Secretary for Railways was read. From Dr. Rouse, giving a list of pat ients attended on account of charitable aid. Leave of absence was granted to Or. Hawkins. Tho Mayor said he had again applied to Mr Austin, District Engineer, for payment for the land taken in St. David street, and a reply had been received, stating that it would bo paid las soon an tho documents are signed. Accounts amounting to £320 4s lOd were paised for payment. A discussion upon the proposal to lay on the water to Mr W. Holmes’ property resulted in a postponement of the matter for tho present. In connection with tho estates committee’s report it was carried that 1200 acres of the land at tho Rakaia be let, and a belt of 50 acres on tho northwest side be reserved. Engineer Kent’s report was road. The vote of £SO to the Firs Brigade was carried on the motion of Or, Grubb, seconded by Or. Garforth. With reference to tho registering of dogs, the clerk wan instructed to call attention to the new Act in force, Mr Albert Shaw submitted bis plans of both houses ho purposed erecting on the site of the old bathing shed westward of Naval Point. The buildings he proposed to erect would coat several hundred pounds, and he wished the Council to grant something towards the undertaking. On the motion of Or. Reed, seconded by Or. Weybourne, £SO wan voted.
