Lord Warden, in the Firth of Forth. A Dastardly ActA fire broke out at the Liverpool docks to-day, but it was extinguished before any damage was done. It has since been discovered that the lire was caused by an incendiary, who had used petroleum with the evident intention of completely destroying the docks. The Cape WarCAPETOWN, January 4. News has been received from Durban that a considerable body of Boers yesterday entered Natal from the Transvaal and marched some distance across the Border. They came up with a detachment of British troops and opposed its advance towards the Transvaal. It is not known whether any fighting occurred. Military Aid from IndiaThe military authorities have received orders to despatch further reinforcements of Indian troops to Natal.
