MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
CHRIS TCHURCH. Wbdnbsdat, Januabt 5. TBefore J. N. Wood, Esq, RM. DeuNKENNEBB. —Thos. Wilson was charged with this offence. The police stated that ho had thrown himself into tho river yesterday, and was now suffering from the effects of drink. Remanded to Lyttelton for eight days for medical treatment. One woman, for a first offence, was fined ss.
Civil Cases. —Legge v Wbbco, olaim £l9 10s, for seventy-eight weeks' wages, as stable
boy, at 5s per week, at the Beach Hotel, Little River; Mr Thomas for plaintiff ; a setoff was put in by defendant, and allowed, and judgment was given for £5 16s 4:1, with costs £2 7s and professional fee £1 Is. Banger v Vickery, claim £24 9s Id, made up of board and lodging at the Rolleston Hotel, together with cash lent and " drinks" supplied ; Mr Thomas appeared for plaintiff, Mr Loughnan for defendant; the Bench deducted £3 Os 61 charged for the drinks, and gave a verdict for the plaintiff for the balance, £2l 8s 7d.
