MIDLAND C.C. c SELWYN COUNTY C.C.
This match was played on the Midland ground on the 27th inst., and resulted in an easy victory for the M.C.O. in an innings and 28 runs to spare. The captain of the 5.0,0.0. winning the toss, elected to go in, but a very poor stand was made against the bowling of Beard and Fuller, who trundled very well indeed, the innings closing for 25 runs. The feature in this innings was the stand made by Andrews, who stayed at the wickets an hour and a quarter for 3 rune. The Midland men made 98, McDonnell, Atack and Beard obtaining double figures. O’Oallaghan’s fast underhand bowling was very destructive. With 73 to the bad, the Selwyn 0.0. commenced their second innings, but could not make more than 45, out of which Easton made 20 by good cricket. The following are the scores and analyses :
