HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was held yesterday afternoon. Present—Mr H. Thomson (in the chair), the Mayors of Christchurch and Sydenham, Mr Montgomery, and Mr Hawkes. The Chairman reported that he had communicated with the staff with reference to their reply to Dr Skae, and at their request had forwarded a copy of the document to Wellington. On the motion of Mr Hawkes, seconded by Mr Gapes, Dr. Irving was appointed physician to the hospital. Dr. Davies wrote resigning his appointment as house surgeon, on account of ill-health. The resignation was accepted, and it was resolved « That applications be invited for the appointment of bouse surgeon ; applications to be delivered by the Ist of February.” The Mayor of Waimate wrote asking the Board to appoint a local agent for dispensing charitable relief in the same manner as is done at Timarn. Mr Marsh was authorised to proceed to Waimate for the purpose of Appointing a local agent there. After disposing of a number of charitable oases, the Board adjourned.
