THE WAR AT THE CAPE.
[Per b.b. Botomahana, at the Bluff.] CAPE TOWN, November 21. The rebellion in Basuto land is still raging. Since last summary, on the Bth inst., the colonial forces have acted for the most part on the defensive, and it is probable that the colonists will be able to quell the outbreak, notwithstanding that the ranks of the rebels have been swelled by the addition of the greater parts of the Timba, Tambao, and Fondonuse, which tribes have joined the revolt. On the 13th Colonel Carrington engaged the Basutos at Calo Mountains. The enemy numbered some SCOO, and our troops 1100. Our loss was six killed and the same number wounded. The enemy lost heavily, having charged three times, and eaoh time were repulsed. On the 14th Captain Landry engaged the Timbas, when five of his foroe were killed, including the commandant, Yon Lingsingsing. On Monday week the rebels attacked Major Bell's force at Leribi, but were beaten off with a loss of seventeen killed. On the 13th Captain Ayliffe attacked Bomvara's kraal and killed fifty rebels. Our loss was one killed and one wounded. By the Ist of Deoember General Clarke will have a force of 11,000 colonists under him, as by that -date the burghers recently called out will have reached the frontier. On the 15th Captain Ayliffe moved to attack Bomvara's kraal again, and found it deserted. Burghers from all parts are leaving for the frontier.
