The cricket match between the Australian Eleven and. eleven Victorian representatives was resumed to-day. The former continued their innings, and were disposed of for 291 runs. Bannerman was run out for 58 runs, Bonner stumped for 50, Spofforth caught for 38, Beyle caught for 55. The Victorian team then went to the wickets for their second innings, and when stumps were drawn for the day had lost four wickets for 167 runs. December 12. Exhibition Awards. The following Exhibition awards have been made for bulk ales: —First prizes— Speight, Dunedin; Franks, Hokitika; and Ward Christchurch. Second prizes —Pascoe, Wellington; Cochrane, Dunedin; Speight, Dunedin; Baynes, Wangaratta. Third prize—Strachan, Dunedin. Fourth prize—Manning, Christchurch. For porter in bulk—First prizes: Vincent—Christchurch; Ehrenfried, Dunedin. For bottled porter— First prize, Hargan, Dunedin. Second prizes—Manning, Christchurch; BAynes, Wangaratta. BRISBANE, December 13. The Trans-Continental Railway. Mr McHwraith, the Premier, will shortly proceed to England on business connected with the proposed transcontinental railway. Appointment. It is announced that Mr B. D. Morehead will be appointed Postmaster. General in place of Mr Buzacott, who takes the position of editor of the “ Brisbane Courier.”
