[beutee’s telegrams.] LONDON, December 10. Bank Rate of Discount. The bank rate of discount has been raised to three per cent. The market rate remains at two per cent. Terrible Colliery Explosion. A terrible colliery explosion occurred to-day at Prygraig (sic), which has resulted in the death of over ninety miners, who were in the pit at the time of the explosion. The Chili-Pernvian War. Nows is to hand from South America that the Chilians in large force have landed at Pisco, on the Peruvian Coast, and are rapidly advancing on Lima, the capital. Wheat Afloat. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 235,000 quarters. The Wool Sales. At the wool sales to-day, 5600 bales were offered, making a total of 102,200 bales catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale was Arm. December 11. The wool auctions closed to-day. 1190 bales being offered, making a total of 114,100 bales catalogued since the opening. The tone of the sale showed a better demand for most descriptions. There was a good attendance of home buyers, but the number of foreign buyers was small. There was a fair competion for inferior to common qualities. Cross, breds ruled Id to 2d lower than last sales. Proposed Arctic Expedition. The Geographical Society are projecting a scheme foranother Arctic expedition. Mr Goschen. The Right Hon. G. H. Goschen, Ambassador Extraordinary to the Porte, has left Constantinople, and has arrived at Brindisi, en route for London. The Panama Canal. It has been announced to-day that the necessary capital for carrying out the Isthmus of Panama canal scheme has now been fully subscribed. PARIS, December 11. French Politics. MM. Dclontano and Das son, members of the Chamber of Deputies, have commenced a law suit against M. Gambetta, President of the Chamber, for having ordered their arrest for disorder. They allege that such arrest was illegal. TEHERAN, December 10. The Khnrdish Raids. The Khurdish tribes which carried on their depredations for some time in the western provinces of Persia, and were afterwards attacked and severely punished by the Persian troops, have n»w retired into the mountain fastnesses. ATHENS, December 11. Greek War Loan. The Greek Government has voted a new loan for war purposes.
