OAMABTJ BACKS. [PEB PBBS3 ASSOCIATION SPECIAL WIBE.J OAMABTJ, Deoember 9. The races were not largely attended, and the events were poorly contested, the fields being small. The only raoe that caused any excitement was that between Bandwick and Clarence, and this was through the latter being caught napping. The following are the results : Maiden Plate of 30 sovs. Mr Goodman's Bylvanus, 3 yrs, Bst 1 Mr Barrett's Levant, 6 yrs, 9ct ... ... 2 Mr Leggett's Emerald, 4 yrs, Bst 111 b ... 3 Levant assumed the lead, but he was collared by the favorite, and although he ran gamely, Sylvanus won rather easily by a length, Emerald was third, and Seagull out of it altogether. Oamaktt Handicap of 100 sovs; one and threequarter miles. Mr Butler's L-ansi, 5 yrs, 7st 61b 1 Mr Shaw's Adamant, 4 yra, 7st 61b ... 2 Mr "Walters* Libeller, 4 yrs, 7st 121 b ... S Luna was the favorite. The start was an even one. Coming up to the straight, Luna was leading, Libeller being second and Adamant third. This position was maintained till the back of the course was reached, when Adamant went in front of Libeller, Luna still leading. Adamant then challenged Luna, and a capital race ensued. Coming into the straight, Luna put on a spurt and oame away, winning by a length, Libeller being a poor third. Time, 3 min. 16 seo. Publicans' Handicap of 40 sovs; one and a half miles. Mr Mason's Bandwick, 5 yrs, Bst 41b ... 1 Mr J. H. Lunn's b g Clarence, 6 yrs, fist 91b 2 Clarence was permitted to lead till coming up the straight, when Bandwick put on steam, but he had waited so long that" he had great difficulty in catching the gelding, and only won by a neck. Counties Plate of 25 sovs. Little John 1 Jean 2 Ned Kelly 3 Mr Wallace's Jack won the Hack Bace, and IMr J. Andrews' Maori the Benevolen Scurry. Second Day. handicap hubdl3 back.
