CRICKET.

NEW ZEALAND v. WOBLD. The above match was concluded on Saturday last, and ended in favor of the Colonials by eight wickets, but it is probable that should the match be played again the result might prove contrary. At the commencement of last Saturday’s play the scores stood exactly equal, but the World had lost five wickets, and further misfortune befel them, as Mr Secretan could not resume hia innings through indisposition. Mr Watson took bis place, but failed to add much to the score sheet. Messrs Mao Donnell and Board were the chief contributors with 21 not out and 17 respectively. The former made one excellent on-drivo and the latter two good hits for five and four. The total however only reached 90, thus giving the Colonials 47 to get to win, a task which they easily accomplished with the loss of two wickets. Mr J. Hartland was unfortunately run out, but Messrs Beeves and W. Frith both showed better form than in the first innings and quickly made the required runs. The first-named played more freely, and his score comprised two fine hits for five and a four. The fielding on both sides was an improvement on their previous form, and it is to be hoped that ere long it will be an exception to see a catch missed or a ball allowed to pass in the field. The following is the score :
