The City of Sydney, with the London mails of the 7th ult., left San Francisco for Auckland on the 23rd inst., two days earlier than the time-table sailing date. The Australia, with the October colonial mails, arrived at San Francisco on the 22nd, two days in advance of contract date. DCNEDIN, November 5. A telegram from the camp 10-day reports that the Natives came down, waved green boughs of trees, and then stuck them in the road and retired. A Blunder re a Land Sale. The statement telegraphed by the Preu Association from New Plymouth that the Okawai land sale was a failure is wholly unfounded. The agent apparently understood the official report that only a few sectionswere sold without competition, to mean that only those sections were sold at all. This is entirely incorrect, as all the allotments were sold at good prices, and all but those few elicited competition, the result being thoroughly satisfactory. The Stella. A rumor was afloat yesterday that theStslla was laid up and her crew paid off. There is no foundation for the report, the Stella having full employment in attending on the various lighthouses round the coast. Revenue Schooners.! It has been rumored that the Government were building several Bevenue schooners, to cruise round the coast and check smuggling. The only ground for this report proves to bethat the old revenue cutter belonging to Auckland is being replaced by a new schooner.
