MELBOURNE, November 6. Ned Kelly. A meeting of 6000 persons last night adopted a petition to the Governor for the reprieve of Ned Kelly. Mr Gaunson was the promoter of the agitation, and will present the petition to-day. Festive New Zealanders. Several Now Zealand residents now in Melbourne intend holding a banquet at an early date. SYDNEY, November 5. The Markets. The produce markets remain unchanged. BRISBANE, November 5. A Burning Question. The Committee of Enquiry appointed to examine into the railway contracts have made their report, which is signed only by the Ministerialists, and which relieved the Hon. A. H. Palmer, Colonial Secretary, and the Hon Thos. Mcllwraith, Colonial Treasurer, from the charge of being contractors, and recommends that further enquiry be made in England into the matter, which still remains unexplained.
Tho Oppositionists protest against this course, asserting that Mr. Hemant's allegations have been proved, and urge that a Royal Commission be Bent to England forthwith.
