CATHEDRAL APPOINTMENTS.

TO THB EDITOR OP THB PRESS.

Sib, —From the reports of the present meeting of Synod, I gather that the appointment to an additional [oanonry is about to be made, and, outside,! hear that, choice has fallen upon a clerical gentleman, a stranger to ns. In face of the many difficulties experienced in finishing, so far, the Cathedral, it behoves those in power to exercise the greatest care in both clerical and lay appointments. What I desire to see, is the appointment of such only as shall tower above the majority in ability to preach and teach. There is special need for it. As the Cathedral will be free to all, let the preaching there be of a superior character. Yours, &c.. Churchman.
