MELBOURNE, November 1. - ConferenceTne Conference of delegates of the Australian colonies on the border dnties and Chinese question will commence its sittings here on the 25th inst. The Cap. Lord Lisgar has been scratched for the Cup, and Mata is now backed at 7 to 1. The weather is fine, and there is every likelihood of its continuing so. Shipping', Arrived—Rotomahana, from the Bluff. MELBOURNE, November 2. Arrived—P. and O. Company's steamship Rosetta, with the Suez mail. The Cup. The weather this morning is beautiful, and there is every prospect of its remaining fine. Stockbridge has been scratched for the Cap. All the others left in are considered probable starters. The Totalisator. The Totalisator Bill has been rejected in the Council. SYDNEY, November 2. Fire. A fire occurred last night at the Redfern railway terminus, which caused the destruction of a large oil store, and did other damage. Shipping. Sailed—Wakatipu, for Wellington, on Saturday.
