The rain which has fallen daring the week will do great good to the growing crops, more particularly those within a short distance of town. Oats are a trifle easier, as there is no freight available for the United Kingdom, and with the exceedingly high rates (£3 5a to £3 12s 6d) current in San Francisco, vessels will not come from neighboring ports for cats only, _ except at comparatively high rates of freight. Extra choice samples are worth Is 7d, and good heavy ones la 6d. Feeding sorts are offenog somewhat freely, and sales are made at la 3d. The demand for choice samples of malting barley still continues, and sales are made at up to 3s fid, but for lower grades the sale is very slow and prices unsatisfactory, say Is fid to 2s fid according to quality. Potatoes are almost unsaleable. Butter is in fair demand at sd, bnt farmers prefer to bo holders at this price. Cheese is in limited demand at 4d for best quality._ Hams and bacon are quiet at BJd bare, and 9d in cloth, but oarers look for a good business daring the ensuing month,
