Mauritius advices to the 6th inst., give a favorable report of the aspect of the sugar crop, which has improved by the seasonable weather. > Freights to New Zealand are 32s 6d, with but little inquiry. The Exhibition. After due consideration it has been decided not to open the Exhibition at night. ShippingSailed —Ringarooma for the Bluff. The Cup. Mata's price for the Cup is now 100 to 6. MELBOURNE, October 20. Treasury Bonds. The subscriptions for the Half Million Treasury Bonds amount to £1,250,000. Messrs Melhado and Curtis, on behalf of the Bank of New South Wales, get almost the entire amount at £lOl 0s 2d to £lOl 10s 2d. Late Reinstatement of Officers. Mr Murray Smith intends, in the Assembly, to challenge the action of the Government in regard to the reinstatement of certain dismissed officials.
