The Cape Mounted Bifles, after a series of severe engagements, have dispersed tho Basutos. Other tribes have become troublesome. The rising among the Mohales is reported to be spreading. The Fondos and G-alekas are restless and turbulent.
The Continental press is angry at the delay in carrying out the conditions of the Berlin Treaty. Arrangements are being made for a match between Lajcock and Hosmer, of Boston, on the 2nd of November. On the 13th Lajcock rows Hawdon, of Newcastle, for £2OO aside over the champion course. There have been severe floods in Scotland. Midlothian and the Midland counties were chiefly visited. Considerable damage was done to the agricultural produce and farm building and works. The Powers have determined to assist Montenegro with money. October 7. Italy suspects Busssia of secretly encouraging the Porte to refuse or temporise respecting the Montenegrin difficulty.
