MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) aa under:— FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15. For Kaikoura, per Tui, at 4.20 p.m.; late fee letters at 4.35 p.m. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 15. For Northern ports, per Taiaroa, at 7,30 p.m. The guard’s van must not be used for this mail. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 20. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (for specially addressed correspondence only) Continent of Europe, Point do Gallo, India, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape of Good Hope, Suez, the Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonies, &c., per express train, to connect with's.s. Arawata, at Bluff, aa follows: — Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m,; books and newspapers, at 6 a.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19th, money orders, at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19th. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post-Office van attached to the express train on Wednesday, October 20th. This mail will be due in London on December 9th. Note. —The Brindisi letter rate of postage for the United Kingdom is 8d per half-ounce. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21. For Chatham Islands, per Rotomahana, to connect with Omaha at Auckland.
