The barqnentine Smi lug Morn arrived yesterday from Mauritius with 315 tons of sugar, consigned to Messrs Dalgety and Co, She left Port Louis on August 25th, a few hours before the Jasper, and met with very heavy weather in running down the easting The p.s. Lyttelton went out for her on arrival and brought her direct to No. 3 wharf, where she was berthed in readiness to commence to land her cargo this morning. PORT OP SUMNER. Sailed— October 5. Norval, cutter, 5 tons, Day, for the Bays. ARRIVAL OF THE CRUSADER. This morning Messrs Shaw. Savill and Company’s ship Crusader, Captain Davis, arrived from London, whence the sailed on July 3rd. The voyage throughout was uneventful, with the exception of the following incidents :—tin July 7th a steerage passenger was confined of a son, still-born. Soon after the measles broke out, and fourteen cases occurred before it was checked, but all were of a mild form. August 20th, C. E. Ives, aged ten years, died of acute bronchitis. Ou < letaber sth, a steerage passenger, named Talbot, while laboring under temporary insanity, attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat, and he still lies in danger of his life. The s.s. Jana Douglas arrived yesterday from Kaikoura, and left last night on the return trip. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. New Plymouth, October 0. The steamer Hawea arrive i early this morning, and left at 9.15 a.m. for Nelson and Southern ports.
