BRISBANE, September 30. Railways under Land Grant SystemIn the Legislative Assembly last night the Colonial Treasurer moved the second reading of the Bill to authorise the construction of railways under the land grant ■ystem. The measure provides for a grant of 3000 acres per mile of line constructed in alternate blocks, the line to remain the property of the constructors. It is staetd that, if the Bill passes a line of railway will be constructed to the Gulf of Carpentaria from Roma, which place is already connected by rail with Brisbane.
