The delegate who brought the news says: —“I was informed that the Committee of Diakova had issued orders to shoot any civilised European who entered that country, and it was tho intention to massacre part of the Christian population on this side. The revolt is simply Islam against Ottoman Its autonomy is the autonomy of Mohammedan fanatics. Its commander, Ali of Gusinge, is a Slav. The revolt emb-acss Novi-Bazar, and can only force on foreign occupation. Tho plains and mountains swarm with Mohammedan bands marching to that destination, well armed with rifles. Hereout Scutari, tho population is preparing for decisive measuresagainst the Turkish authorities, i The highlanders, led by the Mirklite „ Pfinco, have resolved not to move a fiilger to ; oppose tho transfer of Duloigno to Montenegro. On my way through the mountains, from one Catholic Albanian clan to another, I have assurances from various highland chiefs that they adhere to the resolution to recognise no head but the Miridite Prince. The latter has in his possession a document signed by all tho leading chiefs of the Catholic clans of North Albania, declaring themselves his subjects.”
