The Customs duties collected at Christchurch en Saturday, September 25th,were as follows: — Spirits, .£lO6 12s 9d ; tobacco, £32 2s; sugar, £7 83 8d; tei, £24 lis; timber, £5 6s sd; goods by weight, £9l 17s lOd; ad valorem, £Gi Is; other duties, £l2 Ba 3d; total, .£341 7s lid. At the usual sitting of the Wa&te Lands Board, held at Christchurch on Monday, September 27th, sales were made as follows : Ordinary : Selwya, 1 acre I rood ; Akaroa, 41 seres ; Ashburton, 25 acres 1 rood. Under Public Beserves S-'ale Act: Immediate payment, 17 acres 3 roods 26 perches. Village settlement: Deferred payment, 6 acres oroodß 15 perches. Total acreage sold, 90 acres 2 roods 1 perch. Total cash received, £212 15s. Befunds on account of former purchases were made in the amount of .438 10s. LONDON WOOL SALES. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following telegram from London, dated September 25th, relating to -the wool market: —The sales closed firmly this day, fully at the level of last sales. About 280,000 bales have been disposed of, 160,000 of which were taken for export. 35,000 bales have been held over for future disposal. We expect that the next sales will open at about present quotations. Superior combing washed and combjag washed have advanced Id since the close of last sales. Superior greasy has advanced id to Id. Scoured Market is firmer; clothing -washed, unchanged ; crossbred firmer ; lambs, market unchanged. The principal advance has keen in euperior greasy and superior combing washed. Trade in the manufacturing districts is slightly better.
