THE CONFEDERATE WAR DIORAMA.

The Confederate War Diorama opened a season last night at the Theatre Royal to a very good house. The pictures, as tho name imports, are devoted to illustrating the Confederate battles during the great American Civil War, and oertainly convey a very vivid idea of the conflicts and varied aucceßsos attending the 'arms of the Stars and Baw. Some of the effects, particularly the moonlight scenes, are very well worked. Between the firat and second part of the diorama.|Mr Chalet introduced his ventriloquial entertainment, which _ is always worth seeing. Mr Chalet is, without excoption, the best artist in his particular line we have had here. His dialogues with his figures are smart, witty, and amußing, and he sings well, the quickness with which he changes his voice in singing a duet with one of the figures being something remarkable. A 3 a leoturer, too, he is exceedingly good, though he is hardly so full in his details with regard to the scenes of this panorama as he wao in the former one of tho mail route. However, it is a pleasure to listen to him, aa—what ie, alas, too rarely the case with regard to panorama and other leoturers —he speaks the Queen's English and, besides, manages to infuse a quaintness and humour into his descriptions whioh make them amusing. The gift distribution is on quite a gigantic scole, varying from marblo-tooped washßtands to gold welches and oil paintings. The mechanical SQiziO which closes the panoram-i is very good. The exhibition will bo repeated this evening.
