THE DRUIDS.
The Hope of St. Albans Lodge held their quarterly meeting at ihe Kmgbtstowu Library on Tuesday evening. There was a fair attendance of members. It was decided that a benevolent fund be created in connection with the Lodge, and that the subscriptions bo compulsory. After some desultory discussion the Lodge was closed in due form. The quarterly meeting of the Oak of Sydenham Lodge was held at the Bt. Saviour’s schoolroom, Sydenham, on Wednesday even* ing. There was a large attendance of members. P.A., Bro, Willsteed presided. Official visits were paid by the Pioneer and Athelstan Lodges. Dr. Irvine was appointed Lodge surgeon, Bro. Dempsey was elected 0.0. and duly installed by DP. Bro. Swinnerton. It was decided to pay an official visit to the Athelstan Lodge at their next meeting. A vote of thanks was passed to the visiting brethren. One member was initiated and one was proposed. After transacting some further business, the Lodge was closed in due form. A deputation from the Bud of Hope Lodge, Hangiora, held a meeting at Flynn’s Hotel, Ashley, on Wednesday evening last, at 8.30 p.m., to take into consideration the advisability of opening a lodge in the above township. The visiting members from Bangiora were— Q. Luzton, A.D.; W. Bridgott, treasurer ; N. G. Bobilliard, A.D.B.j C. B. Hawes, secretary ; Teague, and John Sutcliffe. The latter gentleman «as voted to the chair. About twenty were present, who apparently took great interest in the proceedings. A committee was formed to canvass the district, and a meeting at a future date will be called to receive the report and lake further action in the matter. The usual fortnightly meeting of the “ Star of Anglesoa Lodge, Lincoln, was held oi Tuesday evening last, Bro. G. Bishop, A.D., presiding. There was a very large attendance of the brethren of the order, including several visitors from Christchurch and Springston lodges. Sis now members were duly initiated and three candidates proposed. It was resolved that the officers and brethren pay an official visit to the Pioneer Lodge, Christchurch, on October Hth. Bros. Baker and Lipscombe were elected auditors of the lodge, and Bros. Bar tram, Taylor, and Judge trustees. Bro. Ooltman was appointed minute secretary. After several minor matters had been duly attended to the lodge was closed in due form.
