HORSE PARADES.
NORTHERN. The annual parade of stud horses in conjunction with the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association, was' held on the new grounds of that society, Ashley road, Ran-, giora, on Tuesday morning. There was fair attendance of those interested in hippological matters, and a good number of horses were mustered l on the parade ground. The management of the affair was in the hands of Messrs. MoFarlan ■, Buss, McGregor, Stevenson, Mulcook, Jones, Kay, Lilly, Luxton, Cone,’ and Smart. The stations were denoted at suitable intervals around the ground, and tho march past took place at a ring in the centre. The horses were — DRAUGHT. Mr J. Clyde—Violet. Mr James L'ssaman’a King of the'Ring. Messrs Craig and Wylie’s Sir Robert Napier, bay, Emperor. Out of tho foregoing seventeen, only two or three were new horses to the district. Sir Walter Scott and Kilbowie, from tho same farm, aro well known Clydesdales. The former was as active as ever, while tho latter has developed intp a grand, strong horse, with good level back, but ho is still apparently affected with the cold contracted on shipboard. Baronet has passed his youth, though still a favorite. Marquis of White Rock, otherwise Heather Jock, has furnished out well, and is really becoming a first class horse. Young DanO’Connol, Black Leg, and Black Prince were shown in good form. Waxworks appeared to be rather undersized, but otherwise a very compact horse. Merry Tom and Lord Haddo both showed to every advantage. Governor came out well furnished, and whereever he travels ho leaves the stamp of good stock. Sir G. Grey is but a youngster. Baron of Clyde, a fine bay, is leaking this season as well as ever he did, but, though entered, came too late for the parade. King of the Ring is a well set-up and active horse, with plenty of muscle as well as feather. Sir Robert Nanier, from the Emperor stock, was exhibited in capital fettle, and attracted a share of attention.
BLOOD STOCK. Mr O. Lewis’s Daniel O’Rourke, ohesnut, 16 hands, Sledmero—Brunette. Mr P. Butler’s Fiction, brown, 16 hands, Traducer—Deception. Mr E. J. Hawkins’ Guy Faux, brown, 16 hands, Eavensworth —Fidget. Of thia lot Dan met with many admirers, while Fiction was greatly fancied, and came out in splendid order. Guy Faux, so well known as a previous traveller in the district, formed the centre of a ring of those who take an interest in a good type of a blood stallion. HACKNEYS. Mr T. H. Evans’s Mungo Park, brown. Quicksilver. Mr J. Evans’s Young Priam, cheanut, Priam. Mr Murfit’s Young Diomedes. Mr Hodge’s Young Barbarian. These were all well brought out, as well as Marquis of Normanby, by Bavensworth. Mr C. D. Oroseley’s trotting pony Prince Charming (imported), Perfection—Cinderella, was brought .nut in first-rate style, and the regularity of his step appears to be perfect. A cold sou’-wester coming on caused the parade to terminate sooner than was expected. ELLESMERE.
