MELBOURNE, September 20. The Suez MailThe Siam with the inward Suez mail has arrived here. Race Meeting. The weather to-day is fine, and it is expected there will he a largo attendance at the race meeting in honor of Sir H. Robinson. Robbery in High Places. Some thieves entered Government House yesterday, while His Excellency the Marquis of Normandy and guests wore at dinner, and carried off £l5O worth of jewellery, belonging to Lady and Miss Robinson. Postponement of Races. Just at 10 a.m. it has been decided to postpone the races in honor of Sir Hercules Robinson {until Saturday next, • wing to the heaviness of the coarse from the recent rains and floods. ADELAIDE, September 18. The Suez MailThe P. and O. Company’s steamer Siam has just arrived with the inward Suez mail, which left London on August 13th. Sir H- Robinson. Sir Hercules Robinson has' accepted an invitation to bo present at the Adelaide races, to bo held on September 24th. ADELAIDE, September 20. The Sorata The Orient Company’s steamship Cnzco has arrived from Plymouth. The Sorata’s hack is broken, and the work of pumping has been stopped. All hopes of saving her have been abandoned. BRISBANE, September 20. Attacked by Natives. The steamer Ripple arrived from the Solomon Islands yesterday morning with only the captain, three Kanakas, the mate, an engineer, a steward and a passenger named Wm. Pense, and five wounded Kanakas, one of whom is not expected to recover. The captain reports that while trading at one of the islands with the natives who had come on hoard, the latter suddenly attacked them. The crew repelled the assault with difficulty, and killed fifty of tho natives.
