CANTERBURY HUNT CLUB.
A meeting of the promoters of the Canterbury Hunt Club ■was hold yesterday afternoon at the rooms of Messrs Eord and Co. There was a very large attendance. Mr Allan Scott occupied the chair, and stated the object of the meeting. Mr Kimbell moved—“ That a club bo formed, to be called the Christchurch Hunt Club.” Mr J. Wilkin seconded the resolution, which was carried unanimously. Mr Baker moved guineas.” This was seconded by Mr G. O’Connell, and carried after some discussion, during which Mr Egan gave it as his opinion that the amount was not sufficient. Mr Egan proposed —“ That a committee of five bo appointed, with power to add to their number, the committee to consist of Messrs A. Scott, F. J. Kimbell, Baker, J. Wilkin, and Hayden.” Mr Browne seconded the resolution, which was carried. Mr Browne proposed—” That Mr Geo. O’Connell should be secretary to the club.” This was seconded by Mr Orange, and carried unanimously. On the motion of Mr Baker, seconded by Mr Kimbell, Mr James Wilkin was appointed treasurer. Mr Bealey proposed —“ That the committee be instructed to draw up rules and take such other steps as they may deem necessary for the formation of the club, to report to a future meeting of the club to bo held as soon as possible." Mr Olissold seconded the resolution, which was carried unanimously. The chairman suggested that all the members present should sign their names as membera of the club. It was resolved—“ That the committee bo empowered to elect members until the next general mooting.” The meeting then adjourned.
