MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, Septembeb 11. [Before G. L. Hellish, Esq., R.M.] Dbunkenness. —One man for a first offence was fined 5s and to pay cab hire Is, Labceky. —John Jackson, for stealing a coat, value £1 15s, the property of Jesse Coates, from the Terminus Hotel, was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment with hard labor. F. C. Barrington was charged with stealing wearing apparel, valued at £l4 15s, the property of John Toovey, from the Star and Garter Hotel. Mr Stringer appeared for prisoner. The police applied for*a remand, which was granted for the 13th inst. Bail was allowed £IOO in himself and two sureties in £SO each.
