GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
Private telegraphic advices from London advise that the English wheat crop has proved to be nearly an average one, and from the public quotations which appear regularly it is evident that values are considerably influenced thereby. Locally values show no alteration, milling wheat being in good demand at 4s to 4s Id, whilst thoroughly clean Tuscan seed lots move readily at up to 4s 3d, the late advices having evidently influenced farmers to increase the acreage under this useful wheat. Several large line 3of second quality have been on offer, but buyers do not appear willing to give so much therefore as they did a weok ago. Millers report a good demand for flour at the advanced price. Oats of good heavy quality continue to find ready buyers at Is 7d, whilst for feeding descriptions a moderate business has been done at Is 3d to Is 4d. The demand for medium quality barley has somewhat abated, and sales are now mora difficult to effect. Good malting is, however, wanted, &nd as much as 3s 6d has been paid. The only sale of potatoes of any size we have heard of, was one of 200 tons, the prioe being 20s at country railway station This may be taken as the current value. There are no buyers of butter, as new will shortly be coming forward. Cheese has Been a fair business at 4d.
