ODDFELLOWSHIP.
TO THH EDITOB O* THE PEKBS. Siß, —For the information of those interested kindly allow me to state that the local in yours of the Bth inst. re Oddfellowship in Otago, does not apply to the order in Canterbury. The North Canterbury district have since their establishment adopted a scale of contributions in accordance with the authorised tables, which experionce has proved to be ample to guarantee the benefits insured for by the members. Four years ago five of the oldest lodges in this district were valued, the result being in each case to show an available surplus after providing for every liability. The total amount of available surplus being £4253 2s 3d. The Registrar of Friendly Societies in his last report stateß " the North Canterbury district to be one of thoße who charge premiums adequate to the benefits guaranteed." And further, each district is liable only for the claims of its respective members. Yours, &c, 0. 8., North Canterbury District. North Canterbury District Chambers, September 9th.
