CANTERBURY COLLEGE.
A meeting of the Board of Governors was held at 3 p.m. yesterday. Present—Mr F de 0. Malet (in the chair), Rev. 0. Eraser, Dr. Coward, Messrs H. P. Lance, T. H. Potts, J. N. Tosswill, W. J. W. Hamilton, J. Col-borne-Veel, JR. W. Fareday, W. Reeves, H. J. Tancred, and H. R. Webb. The report of the library committee, recommending certain alterations in the rules, was read and adopted. The report of the Agricultural School oommitteee was read as follows : The commit ee recommends the Board that Profesßor Hutton bo required to lecture two days in each week at the .Agricultural School daring the winter and autumn terms, and the summer term to Christmas. The committee recommends the Board that additions bo made to tho homestead buildings. On the motion of Mr Tosswill the Board went into committee to consider the report. On the Board resuming, The Chairman said that the committee had passed the report as read, and tho Registrar was instructed to forward the first clause to Professor Hutton.
Mr Fereday called for a division on the first clauso when put, he moving for an adjournment, but the clause passed ao recommended, only Messrs Potts and J?ereday voting against it.
The second clause was then put and carried. i
The report 'of the Estates Committee was read and adopted. The report of the College Committee was read as Mlows : 1. The committee recommends tho Board to reappoint the extra teachers at the Girls' High School. 2. The committee recommends that tho whole academic year shall be divided into two terms. 3. The first term shall begin on the third Monday in March, and end on the fourth Saturday in June. 4. The second term shall begin on thie fourth Monday in July, and end on tho second Wednesday in November. 5, In the first term the lectures 6hall begin on the fourth Monday in March, and end on the fourth Sat irday in June. 6. In the second term the lectures shall begin on the fourth Monday in July, and end on the third Saturday in October. 7. The annual college examination shall begin on tho Monday following the closing of leciures for the year. The examination for honors and exhibit ons shall begin on the second Wednesday after the closing of lectures for the year. The class list shall be published on the last day of term. ■ cri ' The report as a whole, after a short discussion, was adopted, on the motion of the Rev. C. Eraser, seconded by Mr Tancred. The Board then adjourned.
