GOOD TEMPLARY.

A. Lodge of Good Templars was instituted on Thursday night, August 26th, in the Heathcote Valley, under very favorable auspices. At a preliminary meeting about a fortnight since the Distriot Deputy was furnished with the names of persons willing to join the Order and establish a Lodge in the Valley. A charter was duly applied for, and last night Bro. C. M. Gray, D.D., assisted by Bros. J. T. Smith, Glover, Campbell, King, Buckland, and about twenty brothers and uistera from Ohristrhurch and Lyttelton, formally opened a Templar Lodge in the Recreation Hall at Heathcote. Fourteen new members were admitted into the Order, and their names enrolled on the charter. It was decided to name the lodge " The Light of the Valley." A lodge deputy and the usual officers were duly eleetod and installed. The lodge meetings will in future be held every Monday evening, at seven o'clock. — On Thursday evening, the officers and members of the Good Intent Lodge, Rangiora, paid an official visit to the Rock of Freedom Lodge, Ashley. After transacting some routine business, the officers of the lnttor lodge were duly installed as follows:—W.O.T., Bro. T. G. Smith; W.V.T., Sister Bunting ; W. 8., Sister L. Fawcett; W.F.S., Bro. J. Thwaitesj W.T., Sister Croft; W. 0., Sister Thwaites ; W.M., Sister F. Fawcett; W.1.G., Bro. W. Oroft; W.0.G., Bro. Hayman. Bro. R. Evans, D.D.G.W.C.T., was the installing officer, and was assisted by Bros. Ellwood and Boyd. Sevoral songs and readings were then given by the visiting members, and the meeting closed in the usual manner. The visitors afterwards partook of a capital supper, provided by the sisters of the Ashley lodge.
