Mix (says the " National Live Stock Journal ") a tablespoonful of solu. tion of arsenic with the animal's ration of oats morning and evening during a fortnight: after a week's intermission repeat as before, or mix one drachm of powdered sulphate of iron and two drachms of powdered gentian root with the food, once daily, duriDg ten days. This may be repeated after a week's intermission. Kept salt constantly placed within reach of the animal, not mixing it among the food. Change the feeding occaBionally, and give a handful of ground fhx seed among the oats, morning and evening, or once a day. With ordinary grooming and attention to cleanliness and general comfort of the animal, it will gradually improve in condition and appearance.

Colonel P. D. Ourtiß recommends the following mixture to kill lice on animals : Melt hogs'e lard, or any hot grease, and in it dissolve Bait one-third of the bulk of tho grease; take as muoh grease as will be_ required to smear the animal all over, and into tho mixture pour kerosene oil and stir it up. Two gills of the kerosene would be sufliciett for a cow of ordinary size. One application completely cured the moat Btubborn case of lice on an old hog It leaves the skin smooth and clean, removing the scurf and healing the irritation caused by the parasites. It is also excellent for galls and sores.
