KAIAPOI PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

A well attended meeting of members or this churnh was held on Thursday evening, March 12th. The Bevs. M'Kee and Cairns attended on behalf of the Presbytery. Mr M'Kee presided. The notice calling the vestry meeting to appoint a new financial committee was duly read, and the election proceeded with. The members of session already in office were Messrs O. Young, J. G. Kidd and H. Lambie. After some dißOUSsion as to whether the proceedings of the last congregational mooting could be reviewed and reopened, the moderator statod he could not allow those matters to be discussed upon which that meeting had come to a definite result, and of course the question whether all ■who were present voted or not was beside the matter, as the meeting was properly convened and those entitled to vote could havo_ done so. The present meeting was for an entirely different purpose, and he had to ask thsm to proceed with the business, or no doubt a delay would arise if another meeting had to be convened. In reply to Mr Johnston, the chairman said that the meeting was not at liberty to discuss the arrangement made at a previous meeting in reference to the late minister's Btipend. Mr Johnston asked if then they were to accept that as a binding. Mr Cairns pointed out that as the matter had been aettled bo far, that a date for settlement with their late pastor had been agreed upon, that question ought not to be re-opened. Mr Kidd thought that the arrangement had been broken by the presbytery allowing tho late minister to officiate after it was deoided that his agreement had ended. Tho chairman's opinion waß that as the members had agreed to allow the minister to preach a farewell ■ermon, the only point in dispute was whether it made any difference to them his preaching on that or a succeeding Sabbath. The Presbytery had every wish to consult the feelings of the congregation, who might rely on it that no action would be taken to give offence. A financial committee was then appointed of Messrs Jameß Clark, D Honey, W. Milligan, J. Forrest, H. Elder, 0. J. Young, J. Heney, and T. Heney. Arrangements were made for the services of two succeeding Sabbaths, and the meeting terminated.
