MAIL NOTICES.
Mails done at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — FRIDAY, AUGUST IS. For Otsgo, per Wakatipn, at 1.50 p.m.; late fee letters, at 2.10 p.m.; guard's ran, 2.40 p.m. train. SATURDAY, AUGUST 14. For the United Kingdom, Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, China, Japan (via San Francisco), Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of New Zealand, &c, per Taiaroa, as follows:—Ordinary letters, at 6,30 p.m.; late fee letters, at 7 p.m.; books and newspapers, at 6 p.m.; money orders, at 4 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m. ; guard's van, 8.15 p.m. train. This mail will be due in london on September 28th. MONDAY, AUGUST 16. For Northern Ports and Australian Colonies, per Wakatipn. The nßxt mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, will close at Christchurch on August 25th, at 7 a.m. Mail will be due in London on October 16th. A Post-office has been opened at Elgin, in the district of Ashbarton, from Ist August. SYDNEY J. DiOK, Chief Postmaster.
