Messrs Cuff and Graham announce the la3t-named vessel to load for Auckland. The schooner Spray arrived yesterday from Picton, having left there on the Ist August. She was from the 2nd to the Bth at anchor under Motonau during heavy S.E. weather, having previoosly anchored in Turnover Cove. The Pelican and Elizabeth Curie left the sheltering ground in company with the Spray. Same day spoke the ketch Sarah and Mary from this port for Hokitika. She had put in Queen Charlotte Sound to repair damage, having split some sails and had her water destroyed. For ships drawing 20ft, a common enough draught with the shipping despatched from this port, the harbor of Port Chalmers appears to be as unsuitable as ever. In a letter to a Drinedin exchange, Captain Shandley, master of the barque Van Dieman, complains bitterly of the detention to his vessel waiting several days for a chance to get out of the port, and considers he has a claim against the Harbor Board. He calls attention to the latest Admiralty chart of the harbor showing the shallowest part of the north channel to be 22ft, and pertinently enough asks how is it that hiß ship drawing 20ft cannot be taken out. Since his letter was published the Van Dieman has gone to sea, " just grazing " a 3 she passed over the bar. SHIPPING TELEGRAMS. Auckland, August 11.
