PHILOSOPHICAL INSTITUTE.
The members of the Philosophical Institute of Canterbury held an ordinary meeting last evening, the Rev. J. W. Stack presiding. There was _ a good attendance, including several ladies. The following papers were on the list for reading, all of which were listened to with interest:—“ Notes on tho best moans of meeting the sanitary requirements of colonial towns,” by MrE Dobson, C.B , president of the Institute. “On tho origin of double stars, as explained by the theory of partial impact,” by Professor A. W. Bickerton, F. 0.8., F.I.C. “On the study of the French and German languages,” by Mr J. von Tunzelmann. “On an analysis of moa eggshell,” by Professor Liversedge, F.C.B, communicated by Professor J. von Haast, F.R.B. “On the genus Coralaspartium,” Armstrong, also A synopsis of the Now Zealand species of the genus Veronica, with notes,” by Mr J. B. Armstrong.
