ASHBURTON FIRE BRIGADE.

At a meeting of the above brigade, hold last Wednesday evening, Messrs Marsh, Stephens, and Boas, were ballotted for and elected. The Treasurer reported that there was a sum of £8 14s 2d to the credit of the brigade, while their liabilities amounted to £ls 1I« 3d. The reeont action of the Borough Council with regard to the claims of e the brigade was discussed, end it was resolved to write to the secretary to explain matters. It was also arranged to have a drill exercise with the fire police next Wednesday evening. The hon. secretary announced that he had received advice that some uniforms and goods for the brigade would arrive, per_ the Orion q via Melbourne, and after some minor businos was transacted the meeting adjourned.
