THE DRUIDS.
An adjourned preliminary meeting to form a lodge of the order, was held at the Royal George Hotel on last Monday evening. D.P. Bro. Swinnerton occupied the chair, and Bro. Barnett the vics-chair. Bro. Swinnerton explained the objects and benefits of the order. The committees’ reports were read and adopted. Dr. Irving was appointed lodge surgeon. It was decided to alter the name of the Lodge from Nil Desperandum to Atheistanc. It was determined to open the Lodge on Monday, September 6th. The number of conuait/.ee was raised from seven to ten. The S' cretary stated that he had received the names of fifty who were anxious to join the Lodge. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the chairman, and the meeting adjourned for three weeks. —The Pioneer Lodge met at the Wellington Hotel on Monday evening. There was a very large attendance of members. The by-laws of the Benevolent Fund ware read and considered. One member was initiated and two were proposed. After some etner business had been transacted, the Lodge was closed.
