MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.

CHRISTCHURCH. Friday, July 30. [Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.] Drunk and Disorderly. —Frank Crous, for being drunk and assaulting Constable Eelly at the railway station, was fined 5s and 10s. J. H, Spragg, brought up for obstructing the same constable in the execution of his duly, said that the constable had arrested him without his haring given the slightest occasion for such a proceeding. The Bench adjourned the case for further evidence, which at a later period was produced, and being corroborative of the constable’s statement, accused was fined 10s and Is cab hire.

Embezzlement. —Thomae Howard Tamer pleaded guiliy to having embezzled three several sums of money, £4, £1 and 16a 4d, the property of his employers, Messrs Mason, Struthers and Co., and was sentenced to fourmonths’ imprisonment with hard labor.
