LATE CABLE NEWS.
The following telegrams have appeared is the Melbourne papers : Active hostilities have been commenced by the Montenegrin troops attacking the Albanian forces on their own territory. A fierce contest ensued, but the Albanians ultimately repulsed their invaders and drove them back into Montenegro with great slaughter. The French military fetes just concluded were organised upon a scale of unusual splendour. The most imposing feature was the ceremony cf presenting tricolors to the troops, numbering over 25,000, which took place at Longchamps, in the presence of the President of the He-public, the members of the Government and of the Legislature, and an immense concourse of spectators. Sir Frederick L eight on, Mr Taddy Thompson, and Colonel Pa-ley, tho committee appointed by the London Commissioners, have succeeded in selecting an admirable collection of pictures for the Melbourne Exhibition. They have obtained in all 180, representing the principal English artists.
