ACCIDENTS.

A painful accident happened to a man named Ralph Reading, who was working in Mr Hargreaves’ yard, Colombo street. Reading had been travelling with a portable saw-mill, and was cutting wood by means of a circular saw, when a piece of the wood flew off, and struck him in the face, inflicting a terrible wound. The man’s face was cut from the mouth to the left eye, splitting the upper jaw, and separating the palate. The accident happened in the early morning, and he was immediately taken to the Hospital, where ho received prompt attention. Yesterday forenoon, as Mr W. Wales was discharging some stone from his cart at the Lyttelton pumping it&tion, on Omterbury street, one of hie hard* got horribly lacerated by a hook fastened to a rope ho was lowering some of the stone with. Ho went to Dr. Rouse’s surgery and had his injuries attended to.
