SYDENHAM BAPTIST CHURCH.
On Tuesday evening, the 20th of July, a social lea meeting of the above church and congregation was held in the Oudfollows’ Hall, Montreal street South. At the time appointed the hail was crowded, and tho plentiful supply of tea and the usual accessories provided by the ladies of the congregut:on was done ample justice to. As foon as tho tables had been cleared away, the Rev. T. Anson Cato, the pastor of tho church, who presided, explained the object of the gathering, which was to bring the members of the church and congregation together, that they might have tho opportunity of a better acquaintance with each ether, and confer as to the best means of furthering tho interests of tho church pecuniarily and spiritually, and stated that it was intended as soon as passible to commence a building fund. In the course of the evening short addresses were delivered by tho Rav. C. Dallastcn and tho chairman, prayer being offered by Mr Williams, the congregation uniting in singing some o£
Sankoy's Hymns during the intervals, assisted by the Bt. Albans Wesleyan choir, who also gave several anthems under the leadership of Mr W. Sidney Smith. Sacred solos wore also sung by Miss Smith and the Rev Mr Cato, the harmonium being played by Miss E. Smith. The entire musical arrangements gave great satisfaction, and a pleasant evening was brought to a close with the Benediction.
