PIGEON MATCH.
I see by American files that the second pigeon match between Captain Bogardus and Mr Erb, who recently defeated the champion, has resulted in favour of the Captain by three birds, the final semes being—Bogardus 86, and Erb 83. The birds, it seems, were very wild and, at the distance—3o yards—very hard to kill. Tro champion, it seems, had the call in the betting. In the above connection the following appears in tho “ Turf, Field, and Farm : A CHAXXEIfQE, St. Joseph, Mo., May 2nd, 1880. To Captain A. H. Bogardus— Acknowledging that I was fairly beaten in tho match we had nt St. Louis on the Ist inst., but not salisfiad that you are my superior before the traps, I hereby challenge you to double the money wo shot for in St. Louis and shoot me a match at Macon, Mo., between the first and sixth days of June, or on any day of the State Tournament shoot that might be designated by tho Macon Gnn Club, or those having the power of making such arrangements in band. The conditions of tho match to be the same as governed the contest in St. Louis. To shoot at 100 birds each, thirty yards rise, from ground traps (same as wo have need). The money to be put up on the grounds and the gate receipts divided. The shoot governed by the same rules we had in St. Louis. I will furnish tho birds. Fhsd. Eh 3, Jb.
