PRESENTATION.

A general meeting of the Order of Druids was called for the Wellington Hotel at 8 o’clock last evening, being for the purpose of presenting an illuminated address to P.D.P. Bro. Opponheim. Bro. Swim nerton.D.P., occupied the chair, and explained the object of the meeting, and after some introductory remarks read the address, which was as follows :—“ U.A.O.D.—To E. Oppem heim, Esq., P.D.P.—Dear Sir, —It affords ns very great pleasure as chief officers of the Order to convey to you the resolution unanimously passed by the Grand Lodge of Australia at the annual meeting held at the Masonic Hall, Melbourne—‘ That the best thanks of the Grand Lodge be and are hereby accorded to Past-District President Brother E. Oppenhcim, for the very valuable services rendered to the Order during his term of

office, and the great kindness shown to the Grand Secretary on the occasion o£ his visit to Christchurch, New Zealand, to open the Hope of St. Albans and Mistletoe Lodges.' We remain, dear sir and Brother, yours fraternally,— William Burton, President ; Jas. J. Brenan, Grand Secretary.—Grand Lodge of Australia, Melbourne, February 10th, 1880.” Bro. Oppenheim replied in suitable terms, stating that when ho first joined the Order there was only one Lodge in New Zealand, numbering about thirty-fire members, end now there are ten Lodges and about 900 members. He acknowledged the assistance rendered by Bro. Willsteed. Bro. Willsteed made a few remarks in reference to the Order, and stated the amount of good that had been done to the Order by Bros. Williams, Harris, and Bose. The toast of the “ Grand Lodge” was proposed, coupled with the name of P.D. Bro. Swinnerton, which was duly responded to. Songs and recitations haring been giron by rarious brothers, the company broke up, haring spent a rery pleasant erening.
