REMARKABLE INSTANCES OF LONGEVITY.

At a recent religious ceremonial at the Hofburg, in Vienna, twelve old men were presented to the Emperor of Austria whoso collective ages amounted to 1082 years, giving an average of 90 years and two months each. One of them vras 102 years old. On the same occasion twelve old women were presented to the Empress, one of whom was 92 years of age, six were 89, and five 88 years, giving a total of 1066 years. On the same day, at the Cathedral of St. Stephen, twelve old men were presented to the Cardinal Archbishop, whose collective ages amounted to 1017 years. The collective ages of the whole throe groups (thirty-six persons) amounted to 3163 years, giving an average for each for each of 87 years and 11 months During one fortnight there have been recorded in the obituary of “ The Times ” the deaths of twenty-five ladies at ages ranging from 85 to 99 years, their united ages amounting to 2205 years, giving an average of 88 years and over two months to each. Of the opposite sex there were twenty-one whose ages ranged from 85 to 98 years, their united ages amounting to 1846 years, giving an average of 87 years and nearly 11 months to each.
