THE INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.
The attendance at the Industrial Exhibition continues still very largo. On Saturday over 5000 attended during the day and evening. Several now exhibits have been added, one of the moat noticeable of which is some splendidly executed specimens of flower painting on silk and velvet. Mr A. Gee has re-arranged his tempting exhibit of jellies and confectionery. The machinery annexe was crowded all day by eager sightseers, who were greatly interested in watching the processes of saw sharpening, cloth weaving, and horse nail making. The potter and the deft manufacturer of clay flowers were also largely patronised. The total attendance up to Saturday, it may bo stated, amounts to 13,500. Mr W. W. Charters has received a telegram from the Premier stating that, in accordance with the request of the committee, they have appointed a Commission to examine the exhibits, and that the members of it now in Wellington will probably reach here on Tuesday. The railway department notify elsewhere that in consequence of the Exhibition being kept open for a further term of three days, the single faros on the railways, which have been in force since the first opening, will be extended during the second term. No doubt this will bo taken advantage of by country residents, who, now that the first rush of visitors is over, will be enabled to see the various exhibits without the inconvenience of a crowd. During Saturday Toomer’s Excelsior Band and the Railway Band played a number of selections in a highly creditable manner. This evening the electric light will be exhibited under the superintendence of Professor Bickerton, and the Railway Band will perform the following selections : Quick march, “Dainty Darling,” R.
